Meadow Tennis Policies The courts are available to families and guests of members and are not to be used for any purpose other than tennis unless the activity is approved by the Tennis Chair. Be respectful of competitive play: Good sportsmanship is expected. Those exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct will receive a warning and then may be asked to leave by Meadow Board members or Meadow Staff. Non-players are not to disturb the active play of others. They are to remain off the court until the court is relinquished. Cheering is expected for good tennis play on both sides. Spectators should only talk to a competitor on the change-overs. Toys, playpens, chairs, bottles, glasses, candy, or pets are not allowed within the tennis enclosure. Tennis shoes with non-marking soles and shirts are always required. Be respectful of court use: The entry gates are to be closed at all times. Please be sure they are closed when you leave the courts. The lights on Courts 3 & 4 must be turned off by 10:00 p.m. Please turn lights off when not in use. Courts will be washed pursuant to a reasonable schedule established by the Tennis Chair. All players are to relinquish the courts at that time. Courts may be reserved for organized activities such as clinics, leagues and tournaments for club members, as approved by the Tennis Chair. Court Reservations Court 1 is reserved for Meadow Tennis Director (Lynne Rolley) use or her staff. If available, members may walk-on and play. Court ReservationsCourts 2, 3 and 4 may be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis when not pre-empted by league matches or the junior program. Reservations shall be made through Topdog Tennis, via www.topdogtennis.com. Reservations are blocked for 2 hours for doubles and 1.5 hours for singles. Each Family Membership may make only one court reservation per day and no more than 3 court reservations per week (Wednesday to Tuesday). Reservations will be honored when the party occupies the court within 20 minutes after the scheduled booking. If the party has not occupied the court at least 20 minutes from the scheduled start, the court reservation is canceled and will not be honored. All members playing under the reservation are considered to own the reservation regardless of which member made the actual reservation. Any one member in singles play may make a reservation for the court. Any two members are required to make a reservation for doubles play. When players are waiting, a play session is limited to: - 60 minutes: ball machine, backboard or non-competitive workout. - 90 minutes: singles play. - 120 minutes: doubles play. You may visit the on-line court calendar at www.topdogtennis.com. This will inform you of the date and time for Meadow-sponsored tennis activities, court closures and member reservations. Tennis socials and other Meadow activities may be posted on the Meadow Calendar at www.gomeadow.com. Member’s guests are welcome but the guest must be accompanied by a member, who is responsible to pay the guest fee. Each membership family is entitled to invite two guests per court reservation. There shall not be more guests than members using a court. On arrival at the court, if no one is on your court, just take the court and start play. Otherwise, inform those playing that you have the court reserved, and allow them to finish their current game before taking the court. Once your reserved time is up, if no one is there to claim the court, you are welcome to continue to play as long as you want. However, if someone shows up late to claim the court, you are obligated to yield the court. This applies, whether or not they have a reservation, and you have played at least a play session already. Although a member can make only one reservation per day, you are welcome to play anytime that the court is not reserved. So, you could play in the morning at a time you reserved, and then play again later in day, when the courts are not reserved. If you decide that you cannot play at the time you reserved, please go to the website promptly and cancel your reservation. The court can then be reserved by other players. Walk-ons may use any open courts but must relinquish the court to a reservation or other organized activity approved by the Tennis Chair such as USTA matches or Tennis Pro use. Generally in the summer, the junior program takes up the lower and upper courts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. USTA TEAM PLAY Meadow will sponsor USTA league play. Each team shall be approved by the Tennis Chair prior to team registration with USTA Norcal. The team captain, the Tennis Chair and the Tennis Director will meet prior to team approval to discuss goals and objectives of the team including the use of non-members to fill the roster. The team captains shall be members and shall abide by the terms and conditions established at the meeting. Non-members shall be required to pay to Meadow a team registration fee of $75 in addition to any other fees. This entitles the non-member to play on Meadow courts during scheduled matches, team practices and team clinics (once per week at designated clinic). The opposing team of approved play is exempt from paying guest fees. Non-members may not participate on more than one team per year (each year as defined by USTA) unless approved by the Tennis Chair. Non-members are only allowed on teams if the number of players needed to play is not adequately met by members. The number of team players that would constitute the need for non-members participation must not exceed double the number of players required to play in one match. For example, USTA 3.0 needs 8 players, so if 17 or more members were rostered, non-members would not be allowed to join the team. An exception can be made by the Tennis Chair upon request by the team captain. USTA FLEX LEAGUE PLAY Meadow encourage its members to be active and FLEX LEAGUE allows additional adult league play without the team format. Court reservations for FLEX matches shall be made through the Meadow court reservation system. TEAM play has court priority over FLEX play, but like TEAM play, Meadow guest fees need not be collected for FLEX matches however, there shall not be more guests than members playing on the court.
